2024 Canadian Animal Law Conference Aims to Enlighten & Inspire

The 6th annual Canadian Animal Law Conference is coming up! Animal Justice’s exciting and truly one-of-a-kind event will bring together animal lawyers, scholars, advocates, and students to learn, reflect, and collaborate on building a better legal system for animals.

When: September 27-29, 2024
Where: Toronto Metropolitan University
Tickets: CanadianAnimalLawConference.ca

The conference has been a big success since it began in 2019, thanks to the tremendous growth of the field of animal law. Animal Justice is thrilled to host speakers and attendees again this year in Toronto, bringing together leaders in the animal law movement from Canada, North America, and beyond.

What’s In Store

The conference begins on Friday, September 27 with the Student Animal Law Conference, a special day for Canadian law students to meet, network, and learn from each other and animal law leaders.

On Friday evening, we’ll be hosting a conference kick-off reception offering attendees a chance to hear from animal photojournalist Jo-Anne McArthur, get to know fellow attendees and speakers, and build meaningful connections.

Main conference programming will run from Saturday, September 27 to Sunday, September 29.

This year, there will be 25 thought-provoking sessions lined up, with plenty of breaks for networking. Plant-based catering will be provided with sustainability top-of-mind.

Conference sessions cover a wide range of topics from experts in their field from Canada and across the globe.

Topics include:

  • Animal Law in Canada: The Past, Present, & Future
  • Navigating Aquatic Animal Law & Ethics
  • From Lab to Liberation: Stories & Strategies for Ending Animal Research
  • Rights in Focus: Personhood, Animal Collectives, a Healthy Environment
