Ontario’s proposed horse slaughter ban is an important step, but it leaves a major loophole: horses can still be sold and transported through the province for slaughter elsewhere. Animal Justice is calling on Ontario to also ban the sale and transport of horses for slaughter. Public comments are open until October 23, 2026.
