Media Advisory: Animal Groups in Court to Stop Coyote Killing Contest

Animal Justice, The Fur-Bearers, and Coyote Watch Canada will make arguments in Ontario Divisional Court on Wednesday, in a lawsuit aimed at stopping an unlawful coyote hunting contest.

It is illegal under Ontario’s wildlife laws to hunt for gain or bounty, yet Chesher’s Outdoor Store near Belleville, Ontario hosts a coyote hunting contest annually, offering thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. The groups will argue that by allowing the hunting contest to proceed, the province is in direct contravention of hunting and wildlife conservation laws.

When: Wednesday, December 14, 2022, 10:00 am ET
Where: Hearing to take place online via Zoom
