Animal Justice Canada is pleased to announce that noted animal rights lawyer Anna Pippus has joined Animal Justice as Director of Farmed Animal Advocacy. In her new role Anna will spearhead efforts to enforce farm animal protection laws that affect ~700 million animals each year.
“We are delighted to welcome Anna to Animal Justice and are excited that her new role will allow us to more aggressively advocate on behalf of animals across the country,” said Nicholas dePencier Wright, Executive Director of Animal Justice Canada.
“The vast majority of animals who suffer by human hands in Canada are farmed animals. As long as animals are being used for food, the law is our best tool for protecting animals from some of the worst forms of abuse and neglect. I look forward to working with Animal Justice to ensure that industrial agriculture’s profits are not permitted to take precedence over animal welfare contrary to animal cruelty laws,” said Anna Pippus, Director of Farmed Animal Advocacy.
Anna formerly directed the legal advocacy program at a major animal protection not-for-profit, where her efforts resulted in previously unprecedented animal cruelty charges and raids. Anna has spoken about farmed animal law issues before numerous legal and non-legal audiences and in countless print, television, online, and radio publications. She holds degrees in law from the University of Toronto and psychology from the University of British Columbia.
