We’re so grateful for your support on #GivingTuesdayNow!
#GivingTuesdayNow was a global day of giving on May 5, 2020 to non-profits hit especially hard by the pandemic, including Animal Justice. It’s the support of the community that allows us to continue our lifesaving work on behalf of animals.
We asked for the community to come together to support us on #GivingTuesdayNow, and we’re so thankful that together, our supporters raised over $15,000 for animals.
On #GivingTuesdayNow, we gave back to our dear supporters as well by hosting a Live Stream Fundathon with information you can use to better understand the link between pandemics, animal agriculture, and what each of us can do to make change. The event featured physician and public health expert Dr. Aysha Ahktar, who spoke about wet markets, factory farms and their role in pandemics; former undercover investigator Geoff Regier, who discussed what life is really like for animals on Canada’s unregulated factory farms; and Animal Justice’s own Camille Labchuk and Kaitlyn Mitchell, who gave a mini workshop on how to convince politicians to pass stronger laws for animals.

One our favourite moments from the event is when Penny—a hen Geoff rescued from a factory egg farm—makes an appearance. Check out our mini documentary about Penny’s rescue and amazing recovery last year:
Animal suffering doesn’t stop during a pandemic, so we’re incredibly grateful for your support, which helps us do our life-saving legal work on behalf of animals. Together, we’ll continue building a kinder future.
