R v Piasentin, 2008 ABPC 164, 455 AR 71

Sentencing of the accused for causing unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to a puppy, necessitating it to be euthanized. The accused beat the four month old dog, rendering it unconscious and bleeding from the nose. Following a guilty plea, the accused was given a conditional sentence of five months followed by two years probation. In addition, he was prohibited from owning an animal for two years and ordered to pay a victim fine surcharge of $50.
